Welcome to The Horse Saddle Stack. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About This Site
The Horse Saddle Stack publishes reviews, comparisons and how-to guides on the everyday gear pleasure and trail riders buy for themselves: saddle seat pads, reins, cinches, halters and leather care. Everything is written from the point of view of a rider who keeps one horse at home and cares more about fit, comfort and gear that lasts than about the show ring.

Riding and Tack Safety
Horses are large, unpredictable animals, and riding carries a real risk of serious injury even with well-fitted gear. Wear an ASTM/SEI certified helmet, ride within your ability, and do not ride alone on remote trails without telling someone your route.
Check your tack before every ride. A worn cinch, cracked latigo, frayed billet or failing snap can let a saddle turn or a rein come loose at the worst moment. Tighten a cinch in stages and recheck it after a few minutes of walking. Never tie a horse with anything that cannot be released quickly, and do not leave a nylon halter on a horse turned out or unattended, because nylon may not break if it snags.
Rubs, girth galls, back soreness and lameness can have causes that gear will not fix. Nothing on this site is veterinary, farrier or professional saddle-fitting advice. If your horse is sore, swollen or behaving differently under saddle, stop riding and call your veterinarian or a qualified saddle fitter. Test any leather cleaner on a hidden spot first.
